Getting there

Access the area near the Littlerock section of the drainage. Park at the designated trailhead access point to ensure you can locate the proper route.

The hike

It is absolutely critical to follow the established, maintained trail for this hike. Do not follow the inlet stream. Attempting to navigate along the inlet results in an incredibly difficult, miserable, and extremely dangerous trek through tight cliffs, brush, and raging water. On the way back up from the basin, the route crosses through the aftermath of an old wind storm microburst, where hundreds of fallen trees and widowmakers completely block the path and add massive obstacles to the climb.

Tips & safety

• Navigation: Stick strictly to the main trail maps. There is a much safer, better way to access this lake than trying to forge a path along the water's edge.

• Trail Hazards: The heavy downfall from past microbursts means you will be climbing over and navigating around a large volume of deadfall timber.

• Fishing: WYG&F data is pending, but we didn't catch any fish during our visit.
