Getting there

Drive past Chain Lakes along the main trail road. Please note that the smooth dirt road transitions here—to reach the specific drop-off point for this lake, you will absolutely need a high-clearance vehicle, a 4-wheeler, or a dirt bike to safely handle the rougher terrain. Watch your navigation closely to find the roadside drop-off spot.

The hike

There is no long trail hike required for this stop, but reaching the shoreline requires a short and distinct descent. From your parking spot on the rugged off-road track, you will walk exactly 391 yards down into the basin to reach the water. The route drops 177 vertical feet from the road, making the brief walk down quite steep.

Tips & safety

  • Terrain: Keep in mind that while the walk down takes only a few minutes, you will have to climb that same 177 feet of steep vertical elevation right back up to get to your vehicle.

  • Fishing: WYG&F data is pending, but we didn't catch any fish at this stop.
